New BlueMotion Golf: now even leaner

The new Golf has already had a great start and is running above its order entry target, and the GTI and GTD mean it can go from strength to strength at the performance end of the range. Now the new Golf's environmental credentials are getting a massive boost with the arrival of the new BlueMotion.

Forecasted to produce just 105g/km of CO2 (compared with the standard 1.6 TDI's already efficient 119g/km forecasted output), the BlueMotion Golf's emissions are bettered by just a handful of small cars, such as our very own BlueMotion Polo, and are just a few grams higher than hybrid offerings from Toyota and Honda.

That predicted fuel economy of just under 70mpg on the combined cycle also gives the BlueMotion a theoretical range of over 800 miles, meaning a customer could fill up at Land's End and not need to refuel until they are at John O'Groats. Whether it's for long trips following a football team around, the daily commute or keeping the cost of the summer holiday down, the BlueMotion Golf offers genuine practicality and frugality for customers without breaking the bank.

The BlueMotion Golf offers a series of enhancements over the standard 1.6 TDI in order to achieve its staggering economy and emission levels.

  • Automatic Stop/Start system significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions during urban driving
  • Low-rolling-resistance tyres
  • Lowered sports suspension means better aerodynamics
  • Hill Hold
  • Battery regeneration (often refered to as 'recuperation' - see page five of SSP 426 for more details)
  • Highline computer on manual
