Scirocco GT 2.0 TDI 170PS takes to the road

Thirteen per cent greater performance for four per cent more cost

With 30PS and 22lb ft (30Nm) more than the Scirocc 2.0 TDI 140, the 2.0 TDI 170 PS hits 62mph from rest in 8.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 138mph (136mph for DSG) - 1.2 seconds faster than its diesel sibling, while travelling 53.3 miles for every gallon of fuel (combined).

An extra 30PS makes the 2.0 TDI 170 13 per cent faster to 62mph than the 2.0 TDI 140, while using only 3.9 per cent more fuel, and all for an asking price tha is just 4.3 per cent higher. The sports car buyer who wants performance to match the looks without compromising on economy need look no further.

The new model mixes the Scirocco's sleek coupe shape with a powerful diesel punch and fuel-sipping frugality, mak ng for a seriously amusing package that doesn't cost the earth to buy or run.

The new Scirocco 2.0 TDI 170PS is only available inGT trim, which brings with it additional exterior styling and interior features over the more affordable Scirocc base models, and with a choice of manual or DSG transmission.
