Change to tactical and scrappage offer on Golf

Further to the announcement on production and the enhanced scrappage offer last week, we have today had the opportunity to order an additional 2,000 Golf S 1.4-litre petrol models. This is excellent news as these vehicles will be delivered in August.

Given the fact we will now have good supply of entry-level Golf and in response to concerns raised from non-scrappage customers about the scrappage offer, we are making the following changes with immediate effect:

  • The Golf scrappage offer will now apply to S models only. All other derivatives will be excluded.
  • We are introducing a bonus of £575 including VAT on Golf S models for non-scrappage customers to bridge the gap.

Polo Match without air conditioning

The Factory have advised us that approximately 500 Polo Match models have been built without air conditioning. These cars will attract an additional £615 including VAT per car. These cars are available to scrappage and non-scrappage customers: the Polo Match 60PS three door without air conditioning can be advertised at £8,945 OTR to non-scrappage customers or £7,495 OTR to scrappage customers. Full details will be communicated on Desktop next week.

All relevant staff should be made aware of the new offers and ensure that their records are updated.

Golf retail only

Feedback from the Network highlights that non-scrappage customers are aware of the offers available to scrappage customers and are seeking a more comparable offer. In response to this, from 5 June until 30 September, all Golf S models will attract a bonus of £575 including VAT. This additional support will be a non-advertised standard bonus and can be used to help close deals with customers.

Retailers can combine the additional £575 including VAT with Volkswagen Finance's strong Solutions offer and use their own margin (£750 as per scrappage) to secure non-scrappage Retail Golf S sales. For example:

Non-scrappage bonus: £575 incl VAT
Solutions, deposit contribution: £575 incl VAT
Retailer contribution: £750
Total potential customer value: £1,900 incl VAT

The £575 inc VAT bonus will be payable on all sold/delivered cars from Friday 5 June 2009 until 30 September 2009. Retailers are free to use this bonus as required.

Golf retail only

To meet demand all Golf Hatch S models will continue to attract the enhanced £3,250 for petrol and £3,950 for diesel, as annouced last week.

However, due to lack of scrappage demand all other Golf Hatch models (ie excluding S trim) will have their bonuses reduced to the mandatory £2,000 total, ie to the level of support offered before we announced our enhanced offer. Therefore, the £750 Retailer contribution is not required on these models.

Customer orders on Dialog up to 5 June will be protected. New orders from 6 June will attract the revised bonus.
