While we're very proud of the new Golf GTI, we don't like to shout about it too much. Instead, we'll leave that to weekly motoring magazine Autocar.

The new GTI is not only plastered over the cover, but also gets much coverage online at Autocar.co.uk, where editor Chas Hallett calls it 'my perfect car'.

Autocar: 'Volkswagen has nailed it once again'

Tester Greg Kable drove the new GTI on the international press launch in France, and he was impressed, to put it mildly.

"There's a subtlety to the way it copes with surface irregularities that lifts the new Golf GTI beyond the old model. Refinement is outstanding for a car whose very existence is based on sporty performance," writes Kable.

He goes on to say "After spending all day in the new GTI on some of the best roads you're likely to find anywhere, and in all kinds of weather conditions, we can say with confidence that Volkswagen has nailed it again."
